A master cylinder for a hydraulic system has a housing (1) with an internal sliding piston (3) whose crown is adjacent to a primary pressure chamber (RP). The cylinder primary chamber is connected to a secondary chamber (RS) via an axially tensioned seal (5) with a surrounding rim (3.1). The seal with rim moves back and forth to link or interrupt the flow between the primary and secondary chambers.
