An adaptor (1) for rapid fitting and removal of medical equipment, e.g. in an operating theatre or for bedside fittings, has a main body (2) with a female threaded connection (21, 21a) to existing fittings/mountings and with a coaxial socket (34) for a plug fitting (7) for the attachments. The plug fitting comprises a shaped head (11, 12) which is pushed into the socket and is retained by a sprung loaded slider (6) operated by a press tag (4). The slider has a circular cross section with one or two flats. The connecting socket is located inside a block (36) with secured into the adaptor housing via an outer thread.
