The parking brake comprises a pressure part (48) which applies friction pads (40,42) against a disc face (44) integral with a wheel. The pressure part is activated by a control device (50,54,58) along a limited travel. There are intermediate means (60) between the control and pressure parts which connect the parts in the tightening direction and which disconnect them in the releasing direction. These means comprise a long element (66) integral with the pressure part which extends over a length equal to the thickness of the brake pad.
