Amylaceous film-forming composition (A) for forming a thin film over solids and for preparation of films, contains 25-45, best 35-40, wt.% (dry basis) of starch and includes at least one stabilized starch. Independent claims are also included for: (1) amylaceous film-forming composition (A1), for similar uses, that has viscosity below 500 mPa.s at 25[deg]C and 10 % dry matter content; (2) method for forming a thin film on solids by spraying (A) or (A1) on to a moving bed of cores; and (3) method for coating solids by immersing them in (A) or (A1).
