The system has a fuel tank body (10) and an additive tank (12) connected to a fuel metering pump (14) that is connected to a fuel distribution pump (16). A control unit (30) controls operating parameters of the pumps. An identification unit (36) identifies vehicles having particles filter and sends a signal, representing type of the identified vehicles, to the unit (30) for managing requirements of each identified vehicle. An independent claim is also included for a method of filling a tank of a motor vehicle with fuel.
