PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an electrolyte solution for forming a smooth high-quality oxide coating film having no pin hole and rough surface on the surface of an object to be processed, which is mainly composed of a metal, by anodizing and to provide a method for forming the oxide coating film using the same.;SOLUTION: The electrolyte solution which is used for forming the oxide coating film on the surface of the object to be processed, which is mainly composed of a metal, by anodizing contains a nonaqueous solvent which contains an alcoholic hydroxyl group and has 4 or more carbon atoms as the main solvent. The nonaqueous solvent may preferably contain two or more alcoholic hydroxyl groups. In particular, the nonaqueous solvent is preferably composed of one or more solvents selected from the group consisting of diethylene glycol, triethylene glycol and polyethylene glycol.
