METHOD FOR SCREENING SUBSTANCE SUPPRESSING PARAKERATOSIS, SUBSTANCE SCREENED BY THE SAME METHOD AND METHOD FOR SUPPRESSING PARAKERATOSIS

PPROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To develop a means for suppressing/treating epidermal parakeratosis with an entirely new approach as opposed to the conventional technology by elucidating the mechanism of the epidermal parakeratosis. PSOLUTION: The activity of a cadet substance suppressing a cysteine protease inhibitory activity possessed by SCCA-1 (squamous cell carcinoma antigen type 1) is used as an index. A method for screening the substance suppressing the epidermal parakeratosis, the substance suppressing the epidermal parakeratosis screened by the method and a method for suppressing a caspase-14 inhibitory activity of the SCCA-1 in epidermal cells, thereby normalizing the keratinization of the epidermal cells and suppressing the epidermal parakeratosis are provided.
