PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a dead body-treating installation which can prevent the damage of a dead body from a dead body-treating time to a dead body cremation time and can prevent the infection of pathogenic bacteria and the like from the dead body to other living bodies, and to provide a method for treating a dead body.;SOLUTION: This dead body-treating installation is characterized by having a dead body-sterilizing means for supplying a sterilizing medium to the dead body to sterilize the surface of the dead body, wherein the dead body-sterilizing means has an electromagnetic wave-irradiating portion for irradiating electromagnetic waves having a sterilizing property on the dead body. Since the surface of the dead body can be sterilized only by the irradiation of the electromagnetic waves on the dead body, a worker and the like do not contact directly with the dead body on the sterilization of the surface of the dead body. Thereby, it can be prevented that the worker and the like are not infected with various bacteria and the like adhered to the dead body.
