PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an other element-doped rutile type titanium oxide capable of developing high catalyst activity even with the visible light at a long wavelength side and a method for producing the same, and to provide a photocatalyst having high activity.;SOLUTION: This other element-doped rutile type titanium oxide is a rutile type titanium oxide in which at least one kind of atom selected from the group consisting of a carbon atom and a sulfur atom is doped. The carbon atom may be doped as C4+, and the sulfur atom may be doped as S4+. The other element-doped rutile type titanium oxide can be obtained by subjecting a mixture of rutile type titanium oxide and a carbon source or a sulfur source to firing treatment.;COPYRIGHT: (C)2006,JPO&NCIPI
