PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To enhance a sound source signal localized around the middle in two-channel stereo signals wherein a plurality of acoustic signals from a plurality of sound sources such as voice, music and various environment sound sources are intermingled.;SOLUTION: The stereo acoustic signal processing method implements: a step of dividing a stereo signal into a plurality of frequency components for each channel; a step of discriminating a sound source signal component localized around the middle for each frequency and a sound source signal localized at positions other than around the middle; a step of estimating the power of the sound source signal localized around the middle and the power of the sound source signal localized other than the around the middle; a step of calculating the radio of the powers; and a step of suppressing the sound source signal localized other than around the middle in response to the ratio.;COPYRIGHT: (C)2003,JPO
