PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a thin film magnetic head capable of preventing a head element from coming into contact with a recording medium surface when a heating element is provided and magnetic spacing is controlled by utilizing TPTP phenomenon positively, and to provide an HGA provided with the thin film magnetic head, and a magnetic disk apparatus provided with the HGA.;SOLUTION: This thin film magnetic head is provided with at least one head element, a protecting layer provided around at least one head element, and at least one heating element, the protecting layer and at least one head element are constituted so as to be protruded to the direction of a recording medium so that the protecting layer is approached to the recording medium surface more than the head element by heating of the heating element.;COPYRIGHT: (C)2006,JPO&NCIPI
