PPROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To solve the problem that it is necessary to spare a large processing load and a long processing time in a retrieval method for automatically detecting a featured region by using the whole region of an image as a retrieval range. PSOLUTION: This image recognition device for automatically retrieving a featured region satisfying retrieval conditions is provided with a retrieving part (a) for setting the whole region of an image as a retrieval range, and for retrieving a region where the specific components of image data are larger than a reference value and a display control part (b) for initially displaying an index for region specification in the detected region. As a result, it is possible to execute a retrieval operation in a short time regardless of the processing capability of a CPU. Also, it is possible to initially display the index for region specification in the actually detected area, and to increase possibility that the index is displayed in the featured region or its neighborhood.
