The method involves detecting a battery voltage at a predetermined interval and counting the number of times the battery voltage is detected within a series of predetermined voltage ranges. A ratio of change of the counted number with respect to the change in battery voltage is calculated and a peak point of the calculated ratio is determined. An Independent claim is also included for a system for determining an effective voltage of a battery.
