The inverter has half-bridge that is provided with MOSFETs (X1,X2) for alternate switching. A driving device is used for providing dead time at which the MOSFET are switched-off. The MOSFET is connected parallelly with resistor-capacitor (RC) elements (14,16) such that voltage level over the capacitors (C1,C2) is determined by shunt current. A dead time corrector is provided for detecting the voltage across the capacitor and correction value for dead time of driving device based on the detected voltage. An independent claim is included for method for controlling dead time in inverter.
