"TRAY FOR APPLICATION OF MEDICATIONS TO TEETH AND ADJACENT GINGIVAL TISSUE FOR TREATMENT OF PERIODENTAL DISEASE". A tray set for at least some teeth of a patient in the upper or lower arch is provided for application of medications to the tooth and adjacent gum tissue for treatment of periodontal disease. The tray is constructed of elastic molded material to conform to teeth and gum tissue. The tray includes at least one recess formed according to the tooth. A seal surrounding the recess at a location corresponding to the patient's gingival line for applying pressure to the patient's gingival line when the patient's teeth are arranged in the recess. The undercut contains a quantity of medication. Upon installation of the patient tray on the patient's tooth, medication is forced onto the tooth surface and subgengingly sealed into any pouch in the patient's gum next to the tooth. If desired, a propelling agent may be disposed within the recess. such that upon application of the tray over the patient's tooth, the propelling agent produces pressure within the recess such that upon application of the tray over the patient's tooth, the propelling agent produces pressure within the recess such as at a positive force. the medication on the patient's tooth and inside any of the patient's gum pockets close to the tooth. Methods of producing the tray and for applying medication to the patient's tooth and gum are also described.
