METHOD FOR DETECTING OCULOMOTORIC IMPAIRMENT IN DIAGNOSIS OF VERTEBROBASILAR INSUFFICIENCY

A method for detecting the oculomotoric impairment in the diagnosis of vertebrobasilar insufficiency comprises searching for the concealed weakness of the muscle elevating the upper eyelid. To detect such symptom, the doctor uses the fingers for holding slightly the lowered eyelids hindering from the opening of the eyes. In case of the symptom of the concealed weakness of the muscle elevating the upper eyelid, there is a difference between right and left eyelids in performing these movements. Alternatively, one may attempt to close the upper eyelids by the fingers, while the patient resists such an attempt. Again, the difference between right and left eyelids is observable suggesting the objective symptom of the oculomotoric impairment comprising one of the diagnostic criteria of vertebrobasilar insufficiency.
