A lacrosse head having at least one of a flexible stringingmember and a recessed scoop is provided. In one embodiment, aslot is formed in a head along a stop member, a sidewall,and/or a scoop to provide the flexible stringing member. Inanother embodiment, the flexible stringing member is aflexible stringing bar that extends from a stop member to ascoop. In another embodiment, the flexible stringing memberis more flexible in one direction than another. Through theseembodiments, a flexible stringing member can dampen anddynamically narrow the pocket, enhance ball retention,increase pass/shot accuracy, and satisfy pocket-formingpreferences. In another embodiment, a scoop has a recess thatcurves toward a stop member to increase the amount of surfacearea that contacts a ball when scooping.
