Processing nozzle for a laser cutting machine, part of which has internal convergent geometry, and designed so that the laser beam can be directed parallel to the process gas and directed to the workpiece (5) in the region of the nozzle body (1). The nozzle body has a jacket (3) which together with the nozzle body forms a half-open space which can be closed or nearly closed by the workpiece. An independent claim is included for a method of laser cutting of materials.
