The converter has a control circuit with a counting module to calculate differential numerical value representing algebraic difference between numbers of bits of binary signal. The module supplies a sign indication of the difference. The circuit has an adjustment module (15) to increase/decrease threshold value by an increment value at end of time periods based on whether the indication indicates positive/negative sign, respectively. An independent claim is also included for a transmission system including a transmitter connected to a receiver.
