The invention relates to a novel method for electrically impregnating a fibrous, filamentous and/or porous web with a powder, particularly to give a composite material including a continuous, rigid or flexible matrix in intimate contact with said web, wherein the powder and the web are placed between a lower electrode and an upper electrode, the electrodes are mutually insulated by means of a dielectric, and the electrodes are connected to respective poles of an AC generator so that said powder and said web are simultaneously exposed to an electric field, characterised in that the upper electrode includes at least one electrode tube and the alternating electric field applied is from 0.10 to 20 kV/mm.
