Torsion ELEMENT energy absorbing road barriers

The torsional energy absorption element guardrails relates to road construction and can be used to equip guardrails dangerous places. The proposed device allows to increase the power consumption of road barriers, increases the safety of passengers and goods transported in a collision with the vehicle road barriers, as well as reduces the caused vehicle damage and road barriers. Torsion guardrails energy-absorbing element consists of two parts which are substantially mirror images of each other, which are formed from a length of metal rod, portions of which are bent successively. Each part has a fastening nodes struts that function as levers and three parallel portion are working parts, which in pairs (with each component of the one adjacent to each other) are contained in a fixing element working obstacle bending parts. Power dissipation of impact carried out due to plastic torsion working parts, thus, to provide maximum stroke damping, the working portion of one of the components contained between braces has a length smaller (the value of the working part diameter) than the length of a similar portion of another composite part. The proposed design can repeatedly be used after activation by reduction with predetermined damping characteristics during simple maintenance operations.
