Method for cathodic corrosion protection of a rechargeable battery and accumulator with a metallic cell housing

In a cathodic corrosion protection method for a storage battery with a metallic housing, to which the electrodes are connected solely by the electrolyte. The negative terminal is connected to the cell wall by an electronic circuit which limits the current level of current flow resulting from electrode contact with the wall. Also claimed is a circuit for carrying out the above process, in which a resistor, a Zener diode or a transistor is connected between the housing and the negative terminal of a secondary cell. Also claimed are: (i) use of the above circuit in a battery of secondary cells; and (ii) a corresponding battery provided with the above circuit for actuating an external switch to interrupt current flow.
