The method involves pressing a lead mass to a strand using an extrusion device, and transporting the strand to a cutting station. The strands are cut into sections to form leads (7), which are removed from the station. The strand leaving the device in an extrusion direction is transported on a path to the station, where a distance is maintained between the lower side of the strand that faces the path and the path, by using a fluid flow.
