Pane holder has a base part (14), a clamping part (16) which operates in conjunction with base part, and clamping rubber (30) lying between base part and clamping part. Inside the rubber part is a gap (34) into which the window pane (33) can be put which means that the clamping rubber and/or base part together with the clamping part leads to a wedge effect when the window pane relative to the pane holder is stressed when pulled in an upwards direction (A).
