It is a reciprocating compressor and a refrigerator having the same disclosed. The reciprocating compressor comprises a housing, a piston motor mounted on a frame unit provided in the housing, for generating a linear reciprocating driving force, a first compression unit for compressing a refrigerant directly sucked without the interior of the housing, by receiving the driving force of the piston motor, and a second compression unit for mixing a coolant introduced into the housing and a coolant discharged from the first compression unit, and then recompressing the coolant by receiving the driving force the piston engine. Accordingly, a refrigerant is successively compressed twice, components are simplified, and the compressor is easily controlled. In addition, the refrigerating machine with the reciprocating compressor reduces stress on the reciprocating compressor, thereby increasing the efficiency of the refrigerating machine.
