PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a protein having dihydrodipicolinate synthase activity, useful for producing L-lysine, etc., by making the protein have a specific amino acid sequence. ;SOLUTION: This protein has (A) an amino acid sequence of formula I or (B) an amino acid sequence in which one or several amino acid sequences are substituted, deleted, inserted, added or reversed in the amino acid sequence of formula I and has dihydrodipicolinate synthase activity. L-Lysine is preferably produced by culturing a bacterium transformed with a vector containing (C) a DNA containing a base sequence composed of at least 1-924 base number among the base sequence of formula II or (D) a DNA encoding a protein being hybridized under a stringent condition with the base sequence composed of at least 1-924 base number among the base sequence of formula II and having dihydrodipicolinate synthase activity in a medium.;COPYRIGHT: (C)2001,JPO
