PURPOSE: To obtain a clear fabric for ink jet printing, good in strike through properties at a high density without bleeding by including an impermeable substance and a hydrophilic substance in a fiber fabric in treating steps in two stages. ;CONSTITUTION: This fabric for ink jet printing is obtained by initially applying an impermeable substance, e.g. a water repellent, a water-soluble polymer (e.g. starch, CMC, an alginate or rubbers) or water-soluble salts (e.g. NaCl or Na2SO4) to a fabric comprising a fiber material such as a natural fiber or a synthetic fiber according to a padding, a dipping method, etc., deteriorate the wettability (permeability) of a jet ink, then apply a hydrophilic substance, e.g. a surfactant (preferred example: an anionic, a nonionic or an amphoteric surfactant) thereto according to a method similar to that described above and improve the wettability of the ink from that in the interior of the fiber. Thereby, the fabric is capable of realizing clear and high-density printing. Since the drying properties are excellent, fouling with the ink does not occur.;COPYRIGHT: (C)1996,JPO
