The system has a network termination (44) simultaneously transmitting two streams representing respective characteristics of a telephonic conversation and Internet information. A diplexer (60) connected on a telephone line (52) between the termination and an auto switch in a circuit switched network transmits the respective streams, only towards the switch and an input point in a packet switched network. The termination implements a 2 binary 1 quaternary (2B1Q) coding technique for the transmission of information.
