The method involves forming a longitudinal recess in a wooden stick (100). A wooden longitudinal reinforcement unit (200) is inserted in the longitudinal recess between two parts of the stick to connect the unit (200) to the stick for increasing stiffness of the stick. The recess in the stick and the unit adopt the same profile so that the unit does not project with respect to the body of the stick. An independent claim is also included for a bow having a stick.
