PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an economical and highly selective method for producing a comparatively long-chain alkylene glycol diether without using complicated technique.;SOLUTION: The method for producing the alkylene glycol diether of formula (I) [wherein, R¹ is a hydrogen atom or a 1-3C alkyl group; R² is a hydrogen atom, -CH₃ or -CH₂-CH₃; and n is 5-500] involves converting a compound of formula (II) [wherein, R¹, R² and n have the same meanings as the above] in a liquid phase at 170-300°C in the presence of a Raney nickel catalyst containing 0.1-50 wt.% of one or more kinds of other metals of transition element groups I, VI and VIII in the periodic table of elements based on the total weight of the catalyst to the alkylene glycol diether.;COPYRIGHT: (C)2007,JPO&INPIT
