GROWTH SUPPRESSING METHOD FOR WEED IN RICE FIELD, AND RICE PLANT CULTIVATING METHOD

PPROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a rice plant cultivating method capable of suppressing labor and cost and increasing productivity of rice plant. PSOLUTION: This rice plant cultivating method comprises beginning irrigation in a rice field after harvesting rice plants, scattering a carbohydrate material containing much starch on the rice field in an irrigation condition to suppress sprouting and growth of autumn weeds, discontinuing irrigation and bringing the rice field to a dry field followed by letting pass the winter, and after proper time, directly sowing rice plant seeds in a condition of beginning irrigation and spreading water in the rice field. It is preferable to suppress sprouting and growth of spring weeds by scattering a carbohydrate material containing much starch or an organic material containing much saponin on the rice field in an irrigation condition at the same time of direct sowing of rice plant seeds or before and after the direct sowing.
