PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a heat detoxification treatment method and apparatus for abandoned chemical weapons capable of reducing energy consumption and shortening treatment time required for heat detoxification treatment of arsenic containing chemical weapons containing corrosive substances such as chlorine and sulfur.;SOLUTION: A treating furnace 3 is formed by forming a corrosive substance removing chamber 32 on the supply side and an arsenic removing chamber 34 on the discharge side and connecting the chambers 32 and 34 by an intermediate air lock chamber 33. While successively transferring the arsenic containing chemical weapons 2 from the corrosive substance removing chamber 32 to the arsenic removing chamber 34, the arsenic containing chemical weapons 2 are heated so as to remove the corrosive substance in the corrosive substance removing chamber 32, and the arsenic containing chemical weapons 2 are heated so as to remove arsenic remaining in the arsenic containing chemical weapons in the arsenic removing chamber 34.
