PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a device for positively detoxifying chemical agent for a chemical weapon and a processing method by using an atmosphere control type heating furnace.SOLUTION: As a constitution comprising a series of devices and pipings for supplying inert gas in a heating furnace 1 and returning discharged gas drawn out of the heating furnace 1, there are provided a circulation blower 3, a discharged gas compressor 4 and a gas storage tank 5. Further, as a series of devices and pipings for quick chilling the discharged gas got from the heating furnace and removing chemical agents and other substances and moisture, there are provided a gas cooler 21, a cold trap 22, a line heater 23, a bag filter 24 and the like. This invention relates to a detoxification device for chemical agent for a chemical weapon including the heating furnace 1 in which the atmosphere is controlled to an oxygen concentration of 5% or less by inert gas and a heating processing temperature is 550 to 700°C and a gas processing device for processing discharged gas got from the heating furnace 1.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 2
