PPROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide grass-fed beef having improved tastiness with masked grassy smell peculiar to the grass-fed beef and to provide a method for producing the beef or a processed beef product with the suppressed grassy smell. PSOLUTION: Lactones and/or lactones-containing substances are added to the grass-fed beef so as to provide 0.1-100 ppm amount thereof expressed in terms of the lactones and the lactones are uniformly dispersed in the beef. γ-Butyrolactone, γ-octalactone, γ-nonalactone, γ-decalactone, γ-undecalactone, γ-dodecalactone, δ-octalactone, δ-nonalactone, δ-decalactone, δ-undecalactone, etc., can be cited as the lactones. Furthermore, tallow is used and the lactones-containing substances such as coconut milk, peach puree or condensed milk as an oil-in-water type emulsified oil and fat composition is preferably added.
