PPROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a means for ameliorating or preventing alopecia and thin hair, especially the ones caused by stress. PSOLUTION: The skin care preparation for external use, preferably the cosmetic for the hair contains a hair-growing material comprising essences of the following parts of crude drugs: a rhizome of Iris florentina Linne of Iridaceae; a leaf of Echinaceae angustifolia Diocleus Carystius of Asteraceae; a rhizome of Nuphar japonicum De Candolle of Nymphaceaceae; a rachis or stem of Murraya koenigii Spreng. of Rutaceae; and a terrestrial part of uva ursi of Anacardiaceae.
