PPROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a writing utensil with a cap preventing a clip part, a cap body and a writing utensil main body becoming bulky, well housed in a pocket part when the cover of a pocket book and a card is held by the clip part to be housed in the pocket part of closhing, a bag or the like and preventing the falling-off of the pocket book, the card or the like held by the writing utensil and the clip part. PSOLUTION: The writing utensil comprises the writing utensil main body W wherein a writing part 10a is provided to the leading end of a shaft body 10 and the cap body C equipped with a cap part 12 having a cap hole 12a, in which the writing part 10a and the base end part of the shaft body 10 can be inserted, opened to the base end thereof. The cap body C has the cap part 12 on its base end side and the clip part 14 capable of being opened and closed before and behind is provided to the leading end side at a position offset to the front side in the thickness in the forward and rearward direction of the cap part 12 and the rear side in the forward and rearward direction on the leading end side of the cap body C is formed as a notch part 16.
