ENGINE START CONTROL SYSTEM AND ENGINE START CONTROL METHOD FOR HYBRID VEHICLE

PPROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To improve fuel consumption of an engine by starting the engine without a starter in a hybrid vehicle when starting the engine while the vehicle travels with motor drive. PSOLUTION: In the hybrid vehicle having two types of power generating sources of a motor and the engine, a generator for primarily generating electricity by means of output of the engine, and a power distribution mechanism for distributing the engine output to driving force to a drive wheel of the vehicle and driving force for the generator, when there is a request of engine start during traveling of the vehicle with the motor drive only, the engine is started by transmitting the driving force from the drive wheel of the vehicle to the engine by the power distribution mechanism. When the generator has a starter function to start the engine or there is a starter to start the engine, reliability on the engine start of the hybrid vehicle is improved since the engine can start when detecting troubles on the starter function and starter.
