PPROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an engine start control device of a hybrid vehicle which can suppress feeling of torque omission even if an engine is started into operation using a motor currently used as a power source while cruising. PSOLUTION: An engine start control device of a hybrid vehicle is provided with an engine; a motor connected to an output shaft; a first joint element which is mounted between the engine and the motor and connects/disconnects the engine and the motor; and an engine start/control means which increases the drive force of the motor from the state where the engine stops and the first joint element is released, and raises the joint capacity of the first joint element to raise rotating speed of the engine by torque of the motor to start engine into operation. The engine start/control means has a first joint phase which raises the joint capacity of the first joint element at the first speed and a second joint phase which changes the joint capacity at the second speed smaller than the first speed after the end of the first joint phase.
