PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for producing ethanol having high concentration from a carbohydrate such as glucose with yeast by using a pervaporation separation method integrable with a fermentation system and enabling the separation and concentration of ethanol and to substitute the ethanol as an energy resource for the petrochemical resources. SOLUTION: Ethanol having high concentration is produced by selectively separating and concentrating ethanol from a medium containing ethanol mixed with a hydrophilic organic acid by modifying the surface of silicalite having extremely high hydrophobicity, free from alumina in the crystal structure with a hydrophobic silicone rubber.
