PURPOSE: To develop the excellent rust preventing properties of a primary rust preventing coating material to the max. degree, in a steel panel for a large-sized structure having a primary rust preventing coating film formed on the surface thereof, by specifying the average dry film thickness of the coating film and the irregularity index of the film thickness of the coating film. ;CONSTITUTION: A large-sized structure such as a ship or a bridge is constructed using a steel panel preliminarily subjected to rust preventing treatment and coated with a primary rust preventing coating material. In this steel panel for the large-sized structure, the average dry film thickness of the coating film is set to a range from above 10 to 50μm and the irregularity index (= standard deviation/average dry film thickness of the coating film) fo the film thickness of the coating film is set to 0.18 or less. At the time of the coating with the coating material, a coating line wherein a plurality of fixed spray tips 1 are arranged in the advance direction of the steel panel 2 for the large-sized structure so as to leave an interval is used and the spray tips 1 are arranged at position preventing the overlapping of mutual spray patterns 1' of them to spray the primary rust preventing coating material on the surface of the steel panel 2.;COPYRIGHT: (C)1996,JPO
