PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide the apparatus and method for testing the expansion fatigue of cloth more suitable for the supposition of actual mounting.;SOLUTION: Any mechanism capable of moving a cloth grasping part to its longitudinal direction may be used as a power part 5 and, concretely, a rotary motor/slider crank mechanism, a rotary motor/cam mechanism or an air or oil pressure cylinder is pref. used. In order to correspond to cloth various in expansion and contraction ratio, it is pref. to make it possible to alter the moving distance of the cloth grasping part 1 for the purpose of exanding and contracting cloth.
