PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain an information medium having a pattern layer which has sufficient infrared-ray absorption characteristics and superior wear resistance and can be discriminated with infrared rays without being affected by the particle size, etc., of an infrared-ray absorbing material by incorporating infrared-ray reflective particles of partial size within a specific range in an infrared-ray reflecting pattern layer. SOLUTION: The infrared-ray discrimination information medium 1 has an infrared-ray absorbing layer 3 and infrared-ray reflecting pattern layer 4 on a base material 2 in this order. This infrared-ray reflecting pattern layer 4 contains infrared-ray reflective particles of particle size within the range of 450-500nm and is then able to excellently reflect infrared rays of the wavelength range of 900-100nm. Further, this infrared-ray reflecting pattern layer 4 is also a layer which holds information in the form of a pattern. Here, the base material 2 is given excellent reflectivity to improve the absorptivity of the infrared-ray absorbing layer 3 to infrared rays.
