The dyke construction (1) comprises a core (4) of large stones, a closed dyke sloping wall (7) on the core and an open toe construction which on the one hand connects to the dyke sloping wall and on the other hand to the ground. A closure (16) is installed bewteen the dyke sloping wall and the ground through the open toe construction. A number of bore holes are provided through the dyke sloping wall into the ground. A grout is filled into the bore holes to form the closure. The open toe construction comprises loosely stacked stone material. The dyke sloping wall consists of a stone asphalt layer. The core comprises a layer of coarse gravel (5) on which the large stones (4) are located. The open toe construction rests at least partly on a zinc piece (6).
