Procedure to regulate the speed of a motor vehicle according to the risk, in which the planned route is calculated, the current travel speeds are measured and, during the trip, risk characteristics are determined from which a potential is calculated of integral risk, serving the potential of integral risk as a basis for a variation of the speed of the traffic user, characterized in that, based on the planned route, the respective section of the current path dependent on the speed is calculated, the specific risk potential is assessed of each risk characteristic detected on the section of the speed-dependent path considering its danger and the current speed of the vehicle and an integral risk potential for the section of the speed-dependent path is calculated from the sum of the risk potentials specific to all risk characteristics detected.
