INCREASED ROOT GROWTH IN PLANTS OVEREXPRESSING THE ACCDP GENES

A transgenic crop plant transformed by a l-AminoCyclopropane-l-CarboxylateDeaminase- like Polypeptide (ACCDP) coding nucleic acid, wherein expression ofthe nucleic acid sequence in the crop plant results in the plant's increasedroot growth, and/or increased yield, and/or increased tolerance toenvironmental stress as compared to a wild type variety of the plant. Alsoprovided are agricultural products, including seeds, produced by thetransgenic crop plants. Also provided are isolated novel ACCDPs, and isolatednovel nucleic acids encoding ACCDPs, and vectors and transgenic plantcontaining the same.
