Tool for quantitative real-time analysis of viral gene expression dynamics insingle living cells The invention provides a method allowing the detection andthe quantitative real-time measurement, at the single living cell level, ofviral replication using a bioluminescent reporter gene and a digital lightdetection device sensitive to detect single photons with high efficiency andassign them a lateral x,y coordinate and precise temporal incidence (i.e. a"time point"), wherein the spatial and temporal characteristics ofbioluminescence is indicative at the single living cell level of viralreplication.
