The invention relates to a method and a kit for detection of components of bovine tissue in products of animal origin produced in comminuting conditions, wherein a DNA extract is obtained from a sample of the product, the DNA extract is processed by means of PCR, the primer used in the PCR being designed such as to recognise a bovine-specific sequence with a length of less than 150 nucleotides and a check is carried out on whether an amplification has been carried out with the primer used during the PCR.
