An apparatus and a method for displaying channel information in a digital television receiver are provided to configure the cable channel information by using a cable channel list generation table and provide the configured channel information to a user so that the use can confirm information about channels without directly changing the channels. An apparatus for displaying channel information in a digital television receiver comprises the followings: a receiver(210) which receives additional information transmitted from a head end(100) and extracts a cable channel generation table from the received additional information; a storage(220) for storing the extracted table; a controller(230) which processes the stored table and configures cable channel information; and a display(240) for displaying the configured cable channel information.
