TUBE WITH NON-CIRCULAR CROSS-SECTION, ITS MANUFACTURING METHOD AND APPARATUS THEREFOR

The tube (1), comprising a skirt (2) of a mono- or multilayer material, a head (3) and an optional cap (4), with the head fixed to the skirt preferably by welding, has the head made with a non-circular section, e.g. oval or polygonal, where it adjoins the skirt. The lengthwise weld (6) joining the two edges of the skirt is positioned near the zone where the radius of curvature is minimal, and the end (5) of the skirt furthest from the head is closed by a flat joint. During manufacture the skirt is rolled on a mandrel of circular section and transferred to a mandrel of non-circular section before fixing to the head.
