A method for mounting a support belt (30) in an elevator installation in which cabin pulley-blocks (24.1,24.2) are provided with a working platform (26) in a lower shaft zone and the support belt is taken round the pulley blocks (24.1,24.2). The support belt (30) is fixed by its first end to a first connection point (16) and is then taken by its second end round a traction disc (12) and left as a loop in the lower shaft zone, and joined there to a counter-weight (32).
